I'm a non believer Lee, but the wife and kids are Catholic and do attend, not as often as they should mind.

Hi Dean, I think you have hit the nail on the head there. The reason that Mosques are increasing in number (and lets remember that houses can be converted to mosques,which accounts for a great number of them) is because Muslims are avery dedicated faith. They need a place to worship, Theres a lot of them percentage wise who pray 5 times day hence the need for mosques. Christians by your own admission don't attend as often as they should. I think your family's attendance record is very typical of Christian faiths.

On a wider note, in these uncertain times it is usual to scapegoat the things we don't understand. All terrorists all persuasions should be treated with the same disdain. To only pick up on one thread of violence is to make a statement about something other than terrorism, like faith or race.

Terrorism is an act of violence. The logical termination of hate. hate is prevalent every where. Including on this Forum. Hate will not cure the world's ills. Compassion, love, peace and understanding will.

Those that believe that because they do its ok for us to do have fallen into the eye for an eye trap. An eye for an eye and soon the whole world will be blind. Why do Muslims attend in droves and so willingly.

 

I can remember hating church, yet you see muslims of all ages attending mosques.

 

Do they enjoy it do you reckon or do they attend through being forced to do so by the parents?

 

Just been watching a program about large number families ie 12 kids. The asian guy said god decides how many kids we have and that's why he doesn't use condoms

I think the numbers are because the muslim faith is very convincing, it has resonance in modern life for a great number of its followers. Because it is a bigger part of their lives than modern Christianity is for Christians. IMO For Muslims, their faith is greater than a religion, it is their entire existence. I think their maybe some coercion particularly in other countries, but I think they would not be so dedicated if force was involved. The faith would crumble if they did not believe. Look at Christianity.

If you look at the states everyone is very proud of there faith, not in this country though - if you are religious here people think you are a nut...
