Hi everyone, just wondered if anyone knows about this particular saw.

I bought one second hand a few months ago, off flea-bay and bought it as spares repair, the guy said he had had it running and it just stopped one day, anyway it arrived and i noticed it had normal fuel in the tank( yep he sent it fueled up )

Thing is i cant get it to run at all, iv'e tried all the adjustments, cleaned fuel filter and air filter, and the bottom exhaust has been cleaned.

Best i got was 10 seconds ticking over soon as i tried reving it, it just cut out and wouldn't even tick over after that.

And, does anyone know of a good stihl servicer repairer in the north west.?

Hi Scratch,

Regarding a good Stihl dealer, I would recommend Dick Leigh in Whalley, near Clitheroe.

Hope that helps you a bit.

Thanks for that tip JC.:)

No, it didn't have 2 stroke fuel in it.:confused1:

It is quite possibly well knackered then unfortunately.

Best would be a piston kit and new cylinder, worst is that, plus a crank rebuild.

Plus depending on what carb it has you may have to look at buying one of those too so have a serious think if its going to be worth it.

For Stihl servicing, you could try Fletcher Stewart Ltd., Hazel Grove, Stockport. They have an excellent service mechanic/engineer in house.

Fletcher Stewart

Can get a bit pricey though if its a big job, genuine stihl parts used, and if he's in-undated with work turn around time can be weeks rather than days.

Thanks for the offer Andy, i'm sorry i missed this post before sending it off to seddons in bolton.

Got the diagnostic back and it's the piston gone apparently it's grooved ( wrong fuel mixture did it )

Anyways £230 to replace piston and pot...EEK!!

Have to get a new one and i'll keep the dead one for spares. damn that evil e-bay :P
