Oh I know it should be, but where's the scales ? Been stripped off ?

The scales are all but lost, to the right a smaller frond at its base still has some remaining, the stipe is also cracked, warty and leathery which is a classic ident feature, as are the thousands of micro beetle bore holes and the bleached white appearence of an aged and sun dried Polyporus squamosus!:lol:

..............bringing the thread back toward it's 'raison d'être' :biggrin:

 

here, a few of the Hampstead early morning (pre breakfast/on the way to job kinda early) fung hunting brigade.

 

I drill these soldiers pretty darn hard before they get their coffee & pastries :thumbup:

not great pics, early morning sunshine (pre-breky again!) played havoc with contrast...but hunting none the less! can you guess where david?

 

Highgate west hill, first plane on the left as you leave the Heath by the tennis courts, perchance :biggrin:

Any other mushy type things been popping up in my absence?

 

The kids play net area is usually a good site around those oak, beech & lime ?
