The Fung Hunters

Adding several hundred more miles to his epic journey hardest of the hardcore fung hunters spent some time at the house of Hama, we did a mighty 200mile round trip to meet up with Cutter1 who had taken a large portion of his saturday to show us around his work place, a rather nice shoot with some rather special trees.

I have to thank Cutter1 for his hospitality which was first class, he even provided a coffee while on tour! He helped us locate 2 firsts for me and I found a third whilst on route, Xerxses face was a picture when we found a geastrum, his most desired find!

xerxses was even giggling like a school boy once climbed to the rarest of all our finds, but i will leave that for him to reveal, it was a great moment in the Fung hunters diary.:001_cool:

Heres a few photos of us all on what was a hunt which shall go down as the stuff of legend!

I also have to say, that my fung hunting has taken on a new meaning, and sharing these moments with what is becoming a growing number of you puts this on another level. The fung is becoming secondary to the shared experiences of all of you, your excitment, enthusiasm and delight in the things we find is priceless to me.

....and add 480 miles roundtrip to the Airport.....!!!

Im a bit knackered but very, very happy, I had the best days for a very long time!

I managed to get another three on my way from the airport, my fungal-eyes are sharper then ever!

Thank you all for your kindness, hospitality and time.

Thank you Monkey-D for taking the time to show me your grounds, truly inspirational and educational! Thanks also to your boss for allowing you to take the time to be my guide with such a short notice and to Bob and your other collegues.

Thanks Cutter1 for your time and hospitality, absolute stunning place you've got there!

Last, but not least a big thank you Hamadryad for opening up "Chez Hama" for a complete (:001_rolleyes:) stranger and for organising a great foray!

Thank you also Steve for making this all possible trough this forum!

(I will post a few things further on, or even start my own photo thread....but I am just to tired now...)

Was in the woods today hunting for things with my little boy (he's only 4) for things for his school "autumn things find" and he suddenly got all excited and started shouting "daddy come over here"...? now considering i've never really taken him fung hunting before because its usually when i get a spare 5 mins at work, and i've only ever shown him the photos i've took i was surprised when i did go over to his calls only to be greeted by him shouting "FUUUUUUUNNNNGUUUUUUUUSSSSSS....!!!!"
