if i can do it on a D3 then anyone can manage to do it on a D2..

 

here's what it looked like with no front on,, and that was before the steel bumper came off, even had to re route the sensors for the suspension,,

Will have a look this morning. On with the leaky sunroof today before the rain starts again!!

Still keen for that work, give me a heads up when its on a week or 2 in advance as work is rolling in quite nicely now!

It looks tidy, im panicing about doing my defender and that shouldnt involve any cutting,

 

just out of interest how have the insurance company responded to this? have they increased your premium for having external modifications to the vehicle?

Charlieh the defender is the easiest thing in the world to fit a winch to. You only have 4 bolts to undo and do up again!!

its not the bumper that bothers me its moving the solenoids and wiring the lodar unit in thats going to be tricky

TBH moving the solenoids on a winch isnt too bad- I had a superwinch x9 before i went PTO, and the solenoids were just mounted on bracket with HT leads feeding to the winch. You should be able to just get some longer leads made up and put the bracket somewhere more suitable.

i am sure you have said already, but why do you want to move the solenoids anyway?

the bumper only accomodates the winch unit not the solenoid pack as well else it won't fit, so I have to move the solenoid up into the engin bay which will be handy for wiring in the lodar receiver anyway

If you need a hand with the wiring pm me. I've installed a few winches & have got a set of crimping pliers that do 35mm sq cable. You'd just need to get the cable & lugs.

the solonoids were moved into the engine bay on mine

i toyed with moving the solenoid,, but figured i'd keep it nice and accessible just in case,,

 

it's only two allen bolts so no great shakes to move,,

 

if anyone else wants the brand contact let me know,,, it's a "good" deall

Ady, how are you findingyour new winch? Im thinking of putting one on my Defender after nearly getting myself and the trailer bogged in a farm gateway with axle deep mud.

 

Could you also let me know what make of winch you have fitted please.
