Advice on what to do with this sweet chestnut!!!!

Hi Guys,

I had a call this afternoon from a customer of mine as the wind had blown a branch out into the road and left a really big crack as seen in pic on the front of the tree.I have been and removed the remainder of the limb and a few extra to take away some weight but she is concerned about the general health of the tree as the split reaches the root plate system.What would you all suggest i do? is it in the best nature to take the whole tree down? (still very new at this so any advice is appreciated)..

Is the customer happy to have a little work done and then monitor the tree??

The customer is happy to do what needs to be done.I forgot to say in earlier post there is fungi on the branch above and on the trunk but i dont have any pics of this.What would u suggest??
