The platform is hired, this one has a reach of 17m which was ample.

Have looked at a selection of MEWP's with a mind of buying but cant make a decision on a) the perfect height (Bigger the better?!) and b) the design, trailer mount/vehicle/tracked....

In your situation, I'd imagine that's a fairly tough decision.

We got in our telescopic trailored Denka 28, about 5 years ago.

Thought at the time that it would be a good configouration.

But access & transporting it has always been a headache.

We very rarely use it these days, and am considering putting through disposals to open up access to hiring in or borrowing Eppings Tuepen.

Thats whats currently holding me off buying, there is such a selection I find it easier to spec the specific machine for each job and put the cost on accordingly.

I think a 20m 3.5t truck mount is probably the most versatile, but still lacks in heght on the bigger jobs! :001_smile:

I've had mine hired out 6 times in a fortnight Simon and used it a few times myself.

Out of those nine jobs there were two that require tracked mewp access and the others I could have got a truck mount to them. There are however many many examples of when only a tracked mewp could get in and only then with a skilled operator

Tracked can be used whatever the situation, truck mount cant

High 5 Stevie!!

This mornings activities, 3 Plane and a Birch fell and grind along, with a Plane reduction. Plus a smallish lime reduction round the corner. Did it on a Sunday as the street is very busy during the week!

The lime was completed by our new guy Phil who hasnt had much experience in reductions - good job mate, well done :thumbup1:
