Electric Chainsaw help!

Hi All,

I have used a cheap electric chainsaw and found it great for minor logging up at home, but, it doesn't last! The gears are nylon and strip easily. I have found it much better to use than my petrol one though and am looking to renew it but with a high end one. I've narrowed it down to two - The Husqvarna 321 EL and Stihl MSE 220.

Can anyone respond with any feedback / long term use / problems / things to beware of etc, regarding either of these,

i dont know if many of the guys on here will have had much in the way of experience with these saws...

 

However aslong as both are from a reputable company like you have said then they should be perfect for the job. best bet is to get the saw which you dealer does and/or you feel you get the best service from.

 

I personally prefere stihl over husky but its an age old debate that we wont bring up again.

I would have thought you would be pleasantly surprised with either of them.

A client I have uses a stihl electric saw,and is very happy with it.I would contemplate using some form of circuit breaker,as with any electric garden equipment.

I was given an old Stihl E140 for firewood and it's great. I've also watched a top of the range modern Stihl annihilate a 22" ash butt; my jaw dropped at the performance I have to admit. I've no experience of Huskys but I doubt you'll go far wrong with either.

I use an mse for some fairly serious logging due to noise problem. Can come with 20" bar but I have 16" brilliant bit of kit. Hoped it would be as good as our 260 but more like a 380 well made but pricey. Try Fr jones on the advert to the side for best price around. 24p an hr rather than £1.50 in petrol and no fumes so you can use it in doors.
