Selling Carvings?

Does anyone sell simple carvings? Mushrooms, chairs etc?

Im no-where near the Tommy Tree Carvers of this world but I can do a reasonable mushroom and seat. I have recently been using them as gifts (Cheap ) and quite a few people have said how good they look, how much they would like one etc.

One of my Mothers friends payed me £25 for a mushroom out of pine :o I was so shocked I nearly said dont be silly, give us a tenner! Is that a normal price? Did I rip her off? Did she rip me off? What do you sell yours at? Do you think shops would buy them?

Sorry for all the questions, just thinking it might be a reasonable little earner :thumbup1:

Thanks

Sam

prices are about rite.

you may struggle to convince a shop to sell anything, even a garden centre!

try displaying a few items in an art studio/gallery type of place?

better still, do a few demo's at a local show. the public will be able to see one being made, maybe buy a bespoke one. i found out when i did a show i couldnt make them fast enough!

I would sell this for around 80-100 us. But I don't carve for the money. It's nice to pay for some of my equipment but I want to carve, not market. I've managed to sell some carvings by word of mouth but I give quite a few away to friends and family. The going rate I've heard from the people who sell the by the masses is $100 a foot. I've sold a four foot bear for $180.

My mother is a baker, and has a stall on a local farmers market. Next one will be cakes and 'shrooms :) Local gift shop has agreeed to sell them for me (taking 10%).
