And they say I type a load of cr@p!!!!!!!!!! transition period hahaha!!

Presumably, you have read a great deal about peak oil from both sides of the discussion. can you tell me which research you have read on the pro side so I can send you links to ones perhaps you haven't read?

Conversely, I'd like the chance to read your research too as I'm well up for knowing more, especially before I start to accuse people of writing Cr@p. cheers.

I did.

The total land area of Great Britain is 243,000 square kilometres.

The population estimate at 2007 was 60,776,238

Divide 243,000 by 60,776,238 and it gives a figure of 0.03975 of a square kilomere per head of population.

Convert this to acres and you get a result of just over 9.8 acres per person if the land area were to be divided equally. ( the exact figure is 9.810836442)

This is a much larger area than you stated 4.8 square metres, which represents an area 219cm by 219cm, smaller that the average living room I would think!

Square meters or meters squared? I was trying to say an area measuring 4.8m x 4.8m, giving an area of 23m squared. still way off 9.8 acres. I could do alot with nearly 10 acres, presumably I would have more as there are 4 people in my imeadiate family. 40 acres!! sounds great! lets do it.

you going to share the stats?

Precisely. With out research, how can we deal with claims. I could equally say the opposite, as I have a geologist friend who used to work for the oil business and is now living in rural France because he knows that the derv is about to hit the fan. But i wouldn't expect anyone to take the word of one person I know. Like wise Lee, you should share your stats with us. What position does your horses mouth hold in the oil industry, this would be at least a start in giving your claims credence. Its a worth while debate this one as it affects all of us, we shouldn't be relying on hearsay to sway us one way or the other.

Thank you Lee, you make a most convincing argument.

Which of these horses Bottoms in particular do you think my information comes from?

This guy?

Marion King Hubbert (October 5, 1903 – October 11, 1989) was a geoscientist who worked at the Shell research lab in Houston, Texas. He made several important contributions to geology and geophysics, most notably the Hubbert curve and Hubbert peak theory

Or this guy?

Matthew R. Simmons, chairman and CEO of Simmons & Company International, is a prominent oil-industry insider and one of the world's leading experts on the topic of peak oil. Simmons was motivated by the 1973 energy crisis to create an investment banking firm catering to oil companies. In his previous capacity, he served as energy adviser to U.S. President George W. Bush.

maybe this one?

"World reserves are confused and in fact inflated. Many of the so called reserves are in fact resources. They’re not delineated, they’re not accessible, they’re not available for production ”

— Sadad Al-Husseini, former VP of Aramco, October 2007
