Quad Bike and Timber Trailer for hire...possibly!

I'm seriously looking at investing in a compact timber trailer with mini crane for my quad. It would suit what we do on the farm very very well. But I cant really justify buying one just for the farm.

 

DO fellow arbtalk users think there would be much hire demand for a quad and timber trailer combo? Would you hire one? How much would you be willing to pay?

 

If a neighbour of mine had one, I would certainly be interested in hiring it i know that much.

 

I have a newish 500 honda work horse and looking at the Compact Dragon timber trailer.

If you do take the plunge, it would be worth listing your kit for hire on Firewood processing equipment for hire. Rent log splitters, saws, firewood processing machines and kindlett machines. Free to Arbtalkers so nothing to loose!

With so many leaping on the current firewood bandwagon around the Suffolk area, I'm sure you'd be able to hire it out. Saying that, be aware that people never seem to respect other peoples kit!!

I wouldn't hire just kit out for the above reason, plus there are insurance implications too.

 

It might be better to offer it with operator (ie you).

do you not think something like a kubota rtv would be a better machine to tow with

i had a go in one the other day and they are amazing vehicles

advantages over a quad would be its heavier full rollcage diesel so can run on cherry difflock the hydraulic pump on them is a fair size and with the addition of an oil cooler could run the crane or a logsplitter they have a far more substantial towbar than any quad i have seen

and a tipping body to put rings in the back of

or possibly the jcb groundhog/john deere gator/kawaski mule/polaris ranger and so on but i don't know the specs of thoose

IMO a waste of time, a quad and crane trailer simply doesn't carry enough weight, you could carry more with a landy and ifor, the crane imo is a waste of time too, I could handball nearly as fast as one of those small cranes, granted if access is tight you might get a hire or if the site is sensitive

great piece of kit for the right job, I know guys who use them for thinning, planting and fencing jobs, cost almost as much as a tractor trailer though, but as mentioned in a previous post, you don't always have access for a tractor/landrover and trailer
