Thats what I suggested to the supplier.

Funny isn't it, they told me they have never had this problem before with any other chipper.

I knew from that point, they were going to be hard work to get any joy.

well they wouldnt have heard of it none of them there now have worked with the chippers very long i suspect so they have no history of them, when i worked with the bandit dealer in 2002 we had mods we were doing on the 90,s as they were picking up wood into the top roller space and then stalling the roller the problem also existed on the bottom roller but not on all machines, the build tolerances from the factory varied depending on which"good ole boy" happened to be welding that day, no 2 chippers were built to the same measurements and i,m sure they made up some of the measurements as they went

I know of two people that rang and complained of roller jamming problems prior to me ringing. If that's two that I know locally, how many countrywide?

I think its because the feed roller is to far away from the flywheel.

Definately one of the problems as the jammed pieces of wood tend to be shattered peices rather than cut pieces.

The legth between the wheel and roller, vibrates and shatters if it is dry or dead, if it were shorter it wouldn't

So if I drop the bottom roller out and weld in some flat bar to close the gaps up ???

Not really. In my opinion the only thing that will suffice is a close fitting tube with no more than 5mm gap all round. this stops any dead chunks stalling the motors. Bigger torquier motors will help, as will higher pressures on the pump.

Yes my Gandini had the wrap around plate under the roller and no huge teeth, just little square bars running across the roller.

Going to check the hydraulic pressures next week again just to make sure they are up to spec
