Don't worry Hama. I'm glad you mentioned it tbh. I've given them a price and I said I'll inspect it then I'll let them know what I find. I'm hoping there's nothing. As I could do with the funds as much as the next guy.

The people I'm dealing with are mediating for the actual customer. They had another guy in who noticed nothing but it seems promising that I'll be getting the work. Touch wood!

People arent stupid, they can tell when they are dealing with somone who is passionate about what they do, and sounds like the other guy IS NOT:thumbup1:

had one of the firms clients ask for some advice on the garden of a property they are moving to, boss was away so went round for a prelimenary.

Afterwards the client said that it was clear i knew my subject and was very passionate about what i do, he said that I had installed so much confidence in my advice and descissions that there was no point in discussing further, and is phoning to book in with the firm for two days on day rate.:thumbup1:

be honest, be straight be passionate and it will all come good in the end.:thumbup1:

thats what i always do, show i have nothing to hide and if they ask any questions i answer them as much as i can.

Ive been asked how old i am and people are surprised im 19, they usually expect someone a lot older!

if you need a hand let me know. did you look at the job in kendal?

I never had any jobs in Kendal?

I sure will do mate cheers. Organising an inspection next Tuesday. Gonna go up with a torch and have a look.

Are there any signs I should look for for evidence of bats? I'm not too clued up about the critters!

Black droppings, black/brown slicks (urine runs) eminating from holes cracks and hazard beams.

if they are in there youll know better at dusk, youll hear them chatering away before they come out.

As above. If, as is more likely than a full on roost or nursery, it is an outpost/dormitory for loan males, you are quite likely to find it very difficult to see much evidence of their residence. As Hama says, very early morning or dusk is the best time to spot them. :thumbup1:

went for the climb this morning, windy enough to watch the crack opening and closing from the ground it was moving enough.

Took a couple of photos, weather made it difficult, photo of the crack is a bit blurred but you can make it out, plus two shots of the hole, found another hole at the back that you cant see from the ground, tapping the limb with the back of a carabiner and it sounded hollow, at the top of the cavity there looks to be a bit of decay but unknown as to how far it may spread up or down the limb.

as much as i could see it was just an old cavity, no evidence of birds i.e. droppings or feathers, and no signs of bats from what i could see.

Ive said the work can go ahead ok.

Opinions?

Looks clear on the wildlife, and with fresh fibres showing i suggest you crack on, if youll forgive the pun!

pun forgiven!

as i was coming round the other side to get a shot of the 'underside' there was an almighty gust of wind, i was anchored well away from this limb but watching the crack move 5mm either side either way was definately a ring tickler! i thought this is my cue to come down! haha

its definately a fairly fresh occurence, as it hasnt even started to occlude it yet, i had a thought it could be on one side, but im unsure. its not looking too good anyway.
