Not sure if this has been done before sure it has - But my son found this old photo of me from around 1985/86. Note Jeans, no helmet, bow saw, no leg loops, and what a climbing rope and self made pussicks!!!!! - Get the newbies on that.

Any way be nice to see some more.

Regards

Wattie

Great stuff! I wasn't even born before '90 so it's cool to see what the arb industry was like back in the day. Those old Californian forestry films are interesting too, 4-stroke chainsaws that must weigh 20kg+, and a little metal helmet was all the ppe they had.

I look forward to seeing more!

For the record, wearing jeans while using hand tools is still a-ok :001_tongue:

My dad had one saw a medium sized dolmar the first of its kind, down here, and that saw did every sort of job from thinning to felling big pines,we had a t20 and a saw bench plus a old j4 van,and that was it no ppe no health and safety, public liability never existed,i wish i had some photos, but trust me they were good times.

Me in 1997 I think :D Interestingly the saw is a Jonsered Something or other. It had a bag that you would put into the notch (I think... I was 4) and it inflated off the saw engine, as it inflated it felled the tree. If anyone knows anything more about I would be very interested, I dont think it caught on though!
