Hi, I have a large volume of timber to process this winter, and a handling aid would be an advantage, I have a pair of thongs, but am thinking of buying a log spike or I have heard them called logeroons. The stihl catalogue has two. Which is the best the long handled version or short handled ?

I am getting them off the pile and putting straight through my processor. The rounds are all about 1-1.5m long and up to 10inch dia.

ANy body use these tools ?

Yes mate i use both we call them hockaroons same thing , if you are pulling of a big pile use the large one safer, and i use the small one to pick up and place the cord on the cutting deck ( jappa 700 ) i find it better than tongs as it gives you 6 more inches less bending also handy to carry in the landy as a tool?!!!! just make sure you keep them sharpe

Big bolt- how big a log can you sensibly move with the large hookaroon. I have thought about getting one for a while now (i have a sawmill ). Could i roll 16' 20" diameter larch off the heap, or should i just stick to the big cant hooks?
