hmmm dont know will ask the other half when she gets back in a min, as shes resident expert on all things bat like in our house. there is a good likelihood that if they are active you would be able to pick them up on the detector, but i would think this would only be for maybe half an hour pre and post feeding so not in the middle of the day (but i may be wrong)

the wife says that they will emmit noises whilst in the roost but its unlikely that these will be loud enough to be picked up on most bat detectors, she says a emergance survey would be best at either dawn or dusk if you suspect bats are present

I found this thread when googling for one myself! thought I would bump it up as im going to be trying for a licence either this year or next, obviously after a lot of "shadowing" so many a sleepless night going to be had this summer!

 

a decent endoscope witha three metre range looks expensive, but im as interested for cavity fung as bats at a later date!
