Just the way it is around here now, the local councils are getting signs erected notifying cold calling and leaflet dropping is not permitted. They are supported by police and neighbourhood watch.

cold calling is against the law.

nothing wrong will leaflet posting,as you are pre warning possible customers and then its up to them to contact you,if they want work done

i get work from posting bussiness cards,i have a card on the notice board of the local paper shop[i live in a small village]but the bulk of my work is word and mouth, and most are repeat customers, who call year after year,to prue the same trees and cut the same old hedge

Are they putting a stop to all leaflet dropping? Ie junk mail. Dunno how our is by you but we get a small amazon rain forest delivered every day in the form of pizza ads!

Although leaflet dropping doesn't bother me that much and I don't compare it to being a rogue trader at all. I see cold calling and rogue trading when they harass people by knocking at doors and saying how dangerous there tree is etc and not taking no for an answer.

Maybe shoving the yellow pages, thompson local, free local papers bt book etc though letter boxes could be seen as the ultimate of leaflet dropping!:001_smile: In that sense maybe must of us are rogue traders.:laugh1:

I have dropped a few leaflets off today, mine look professional in my opinion and also in the opinion of my customers who i have recived work from due to the leaflets.

I dont see them as a problem as its just getting your name about, mine have my phone numbers (landline and mobile), services, information about qualifications and insurance and my website. however i never bombard one area with hundreds of fliers. i will only do say 20 houses in an area.

but i can also see why people dont like doing it.
