12 hour days

For those who are sole traiders.

Do you find that to keep up with work you are working 10,12 or even 14 hr days- working weekends, including admin, pricing and maintenance.

Is it a life style choice or is it not the way you would wish to work?

Thought I'd post this while completing tpo consent forms at 11.50pm:thumbsdown:

Sadly you'll find it the same or more demanding with staff or a business partner.

No, I just put in a reasonable day rate that covers my outgoings and wages and only work 3 days a week, 4 in summer leaving 1 day for maintenance and sat morning for pricing.

I try to keep the job to a six hour day not including breaks.

I think people are frightened of puting in a decent price for fear of losing the job.

Three years ago I wondered why I was so busy, it clicked not so long after that my day rate was too cheap. I found the balance and it works fine.

You seem to have sussed it out. I take it you don't feel stressed out. You dont feel that if you worked extra hours, you could earn even more?

I love the 6 hours aday. Do your guys also work 6 hrs? Are they happy about six hours money, or are you also rare in that you pay well?

I wish more people could chill out as you seem to have.

Dude.

I used to get stressed watching weather reports and wondering how I'm going to fit Mondays job into the already full schedule after the bad weather report. It was either work in the rain or get so far behind it stressed me to the max.

My groundies work for £50 per day in their hands, whether they work 4 hours or 7, horses for courses, although saying that they tend to forget the days they go home at 1pm and only remember the days they work over an hour:proud:

I have two jobs and careers. I do 10 hrs tree surgery and then go to work after the kids are in bed until about 2-4am. I do this because I have too. or you could say because I am an idiot.

If thats true and you feel you have to do this then you can't be very good at your chosen career, if you have to struggle so much.

Perhaps a change of direction would be an idea.
