yes thats right boys scotch pine. shown to me out of old dictionary by my old uncle who always referred to them as such .he is very well read and i didnt like to pick him up on this point but thought i must, i had never heard of it has anyone else by the way this is not an american dictionary.:confused1:

Have never heard it called Scotch Pine up here myself, but we do call them "Callies" as in Caledonian - not sure if that's just a colloquialism though....

 

niether had i in 30 years forestry but thats in black and white:confused1:

Its Pinus sylvestris end of :)

 

The common name is just that. English oak is known as German oak over there, use the scientific name and no one gets confused, except lay folk.

 

a laymans chat though would be hard less you speak latin lol:001_tt2::thumbup:
