Great Stevie cheers for digging out the pics! The main butt looks almost identical to the on I did with that included bark going towards the center of the stem. What a great looking bit o wood...

 

 

 

Such a shame it's so so so far away like all that lovely elm. When I'm rich I'll get one of them big copters like you see on telly!

it is very similar mate, i bet a lot of these trees came intot he country at the same time and got passed between the toffs for their country pads lol.

 

Me and huck are going halvers on a chinook mate, so when you are rich you can chip in aswell:thumbup:

A neighbouring furniture maker is a big fan of sequioa. Reckon it might be worth a trip down with the Alaskan to mill some of it (obviously assuming I can come to an arrangement with the owners of the tree)?

 

Cracking fell there - it does make you wonder how the hell people in the pre chainsaw age managed to fell sequioas with diameters of 3-4 cars!
