I use Photoshop for image editing, but iPhoto, already loaded on macs, has basic photo editing functions which will allow you to crop, rotate and auto enhance the images, but it depends what your task is really as to whether or not this would suffice. In iPhoto, you can create copies of the images before editing them, by creating 'new albums', thereby keeping the originals. ALWAYS keep the originals!

I guess you may be wanting to do more than just the above to the images, like specific resizing and adding watermarks to the images and I have an idea....will catch up with you later on that. :001_smile:

they guy in the apple story basically told me that any changes you made to an image couldnt be undone so i would need to duplicate any files before working on them, which i cant really be bothered with!

even iphoto will automatically duplicate every shot you work on,,, so if it's just resizing then use that,,

yeh even though it is "overwritten" there are 2 files in images stored,, 1 is called modified the other is "originals" go into iphoto through finder and you'll see it,,, it's not a new thing either, it's always been there,, it's part of the reason that storing pics on your mac always chews up so much memory, even rotating the images makes a duplicate..

iPhoto is free & works very well for simple tasks. Just duplicate the image first by selecting desired image, & then press the apple key & d, that will duplicate your image. Do your work on the pic, if you don't like it when done, select said image, go to the toolbar at the top, click on photos & click revert to original. Simple as. Photoshop & the other normal suspects all good to, but for simple quick, resizing, colour enhancements, red eye, contrast, straightening etc, iPhoto takes some beating.
