can horses reverse jack? this is a serious question or do you have to make turning routes in the forest:biggrin:

Yes they can, she can back it up if empty, not with a load on, but a pair would, although not uphill. It's pretty good for turning though, 10yds diameter and it will come around no bother.

Lindisfarne, I made a wee crane jobby with a hand-operated winch running through and it worked really well. The only downside of mine is that it doesnt rotate as I was concerned with the stability. But seeing as it was made to lift in trees into pits it did the job at the time. I'm now toying with the idea of making a pole bogey to tow behind it to extract timber. :hmmmm:

In the "quads" thread I put up some pics of the wee crane thingy-bob I built http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/24424-post83.html was in it initial stages, and I think I posted up some later pics with the new grab and a winch.http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/25044-post103.html http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/64589-post115.html Oh and nearly forgot using the crane to skid out a bundle of Yew brash http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/60025-post114.html
