what do you mean by cheating, do you mean when shleck had mechanical problems on one of the climbs, i dont think contador did anything wrong on that climb when he attacked, racing is racing.

 

im afraid that although it seems like a good idea, not attacking the leader during a mechanical is one of those unwritten gentlemens agreement type of rules.

 

like the last day is effectivly neutralised till the champs elysse, no one attacks, and the race starts on first lap just for the sprinters. even tho its possible for shleck to do a runner, its just not the done thing

The psychology of the group of competitive cyclists in any of these races fascinates me.

Each member of the peloton KNOWS exactly his status within the "pack", and will defend the status of the pack against "outsiders" or rouge elements.

And yes essentially "Gentlemens" rules apply.

Until it filters down to the known, and accepted, best contenders.

We got the "Giro de Italia" here in NI next weekend.
