initially thought black walnut,, but alas not,

 

all i do know is it's not common,,, couldnt find it in the tree guide at all although hickory and walnut were the two closest i could find

now you're being demanding,, i can go back and get one haha,, looks like ash but broader grooves, but when you feel it it';s actually much smoother..

It's a walnut. Your book's got to wrong :lol:

 

J. regia is the only spp of walnut with entire leaves.
