I found this at the dump yesterday, a three phase Lathe with a eight foot bed!Its old as the hills but sombody has loved it enough to replace the bushes in the gearbox with bearings and pollish the brass bits and peices on it.I'm not sure exactly what I'll use it for but its a nice thing to have in the lockup!

Probably some old boys pride and joy,may be he has past on and his workshops been cleared?

Your probably quite right,a mate thinks that might have happened as well.I couldn't bear to see it scrapped and I'll stuff it into the container tomorrow with the Hi ab.Got somefunny looks this arvo standing in the yard and turning some old "Re bar" for no better reason than I could!

The bed, legs and gear box casing are all cast Iron.we were saying today that when it was made,it might have cost the eqaivalent of the operators anual wage. And I got it free, chances are it will outlast me as well!

Could not sell it!!!!!!!! have you seen the price of scrap:scared:

Tell me about it. Some civil contract lads on a site i know spend all day nicking anything from old hay feeders to tread plate from under your feet! If they declaired it they would be in the high tax bracket.

(thats west cumbrians for you :scared:)
