Recommended Posts

hi all thought id share ,:001_smile: This is a area of mainly Ash regen and sweetchestnut most of the chestnut has grown up from large felling from around the secondworld war,the access is up a old drovers route the compartment is mainly on a bank with some level areas for winching and skidding the wood to stack to be extracted by crane the area was badly hit by the 1987 storm so there is a lot of horizontal wood hung up with huge epicormics coming of them so a good challenge light thinning is to be carried out to retain best of ash standards and best chestnut poles, either maidens or coppice poles and coppice thin remainders, some of the windblow such as some of the large fallen oaks will be left to as some cool phoenix growth ,and large amounts of deadwood to be left in wood .the chestnut going for chipping for bricketts the ash going as firewood, and some bits of oak and yewDSC00402.JPG.ff8eb9527154b1c9953eaa9aefced187.JPG i hope to mill

they are great but spendws alot of time been fixed find alot of leaks and when working hard burns the oil ,perfect for having around to deal with the hung up trees ,was told you can get huge tyres for them that make them perfect in boggy places but dont do the final drive any good
