stress relief

Good thinking Stevie but when you're wed to someone who won't have extra coat hanging space, won't have a keyrack, won't put stuff in a box in the roof... you learn to take it all in your stride years ago!

Enjoy your day.

Good point. My missus just lobs everything in the recycling bin!! Job quotes, invoices, magazines the whole lot. I only need to chip off to the garage for five and the whole lot is gone!! Still at least i know where everything is and it all works well as long as i get to it before the bin men ha ha ha.

This is definitely the way to go. Spending a sunday afternoon tidying up/throwing out junk is not only therapeutic in the short term, it also makes life run more smoothly in the long term. It's all about working smarter, not harder.

I totally disagree. Sorry.

I have spent nearly every sunday of my married life (10 yrs) doing this to get back to a total ****hole every monday afterwork. It works as long as the other members of your household make even the tiniest attempt at the same direction.

All i end up with is even higher stress levels as i NEVER get any me time.

I must be lucky I don't really do stress. I just look for a solution to the problem. When the van blew up it wasn't oh not what do I do, it's ring people keep them informed work out how to reschedule or what you need to sub. Look for the solution not the problem.

Do the little things matter - not really. My house is messy more often than it's tidy, does it matter, well I have more fun out n about than I do in the house so not really. If something gets broken, stressing won't fix it so move on.

I guess because I don't really get stressed I struggle to understand why others do. Life's for living - Enjoy it.

A college report once said about me "Robert is a good problem solver, unfortunately he causes most of the problems in the first place" stays with me to this day, if you don't cause the problems you have less stuff to fix!!

ive spent the morning tidying. its an utterly pointless excercise in my house, the kids will have it all ripped apart by the evening and i'll end up shouting at them and getting stressed about it!!

I haven't got kids but I do look after a mate of mines regularly I've never really got it. Kids are going to make the house messy it's what they do. When I've got them the rule is any mess they make has to be tidied before bed. It means that the end of the day normality is restored. They have fun, you don't stress trying to achieve something that isn't going to happen.

Occassionally it won't happen and I tidy up afterwards, I think thats a lot less hassle to spend 15mins putting stuff away rather that hours nagging and getting worked up about stuff.

Obviously as they get older you can implement tidying as they go, but they'll use less toys then anyway. All a balancing act IMO.
