Got sent these pics by a client that im due to work for next month, He said that the bark has peeled off the tree in a short space of time and is in a heap around the base of the tree. The tree looked fine last year....and under the bark is like a sooty charcoal deposit that comes off on your hand - any idea what it is? It has killed two of his trees next to a road.:thumbdown:

My vast knowledge and experience leads me to believe that it is a tree with a very short life expectancy :lol:
