just a bit of semi-pointlessness this guys,

I cant even decide what colour helmet to get. Decided the Petzl vertex vent is the one I'll go for but as for what colour, I just cant decide.

Yellow is a bit too builder and orange seems a bit too obvious so ive pretty much discounted these but i've included them in the poll to keep it fair. if you could give any reasons for whatever colour even if it;s just your favourite colour it might help me decide.

White is tempting because it looks clean and it's quite visible and contrasts well with the black visor and ear defenders, black is just cool but perhaps a bit OTT and darth vaderish (not necessarily a bad thing), Red, everyone seems to be wearing and wont really go with the uniform... soooo

black or white i suppose...

Edit: I forgot to make it clear that this is for climbing, I have a perfectly good Orange Husky helmet for ground duties. I need a chinstrap helmet for my CS38 and onwards

If you are going to work as a groundie, NOT black, or just buy 2 if you need the cool thing happening :)

O.k black does look cool, but its going to get hotter in the summer, and as Pete points out its harder to spot on the ground.

Its a real bug bear for me, as most groundies i've worked with where dark subdued colours and a black helmet, and I always like to know where people are when they work under me.

I'd vote white its the most sensible colour, easy to see and does'nt absorb heat, but I just bought a new orange one.

Some people might tell you black helmets are too hot attracting heat fro the sun etc. The bottom line is all helmets are hot! 80% of the body's heat can be dissipated through the head. Keep the vents open and keep taking fluids. Wear whatever colour you like, if Hi Viz is an issue wear a vest or hi viz t shirt.

You need to wash your helmet every now and again, helmet hygiene is very important.
