if its a different seller then it just means they are vat registered but the original seller wasnt

but if vat wasnt paid in the first place then they cant add it on if they sell it on can they??

ok cool , i wasnt sure how it worked i thought that might be the case but for some reason i was thinking that it had to have been vat on it all along ,,(blonde moment i think)

yes of course they can. its the person selling who is vat registered, not the machine.

whats more annoying is for the non vat registered person who buys the machine with vat on it, then has to take a loss when they sell it on with no vat

Or the person who sells something via e.g. eBay then says VAT will be added but they aren’t VAT registered

Or the people who say “VAT will be added to the final sale price” which is not permitted as the sale price MUST include the VAT

As eBay is primarily a consumer marketplace, from February 20th 2008, users will no longer be permitted to add VAT to the final item price after the item has been won. ebay.co.uk - VAT

Remember that If you're VAT registered, and therefore must charge VAT on the items you sell, the prices visible to buyers in your listings must be inclusive of VAT. ebay.co.uk - 2) Do I have to charge VAT on the items I sell?
