Not sure thats true. I think a lot of so called experts really do think they are the experts. I think all so called advisors would probably consider themselves able to use your disclaimer to convince themselves you aren't talking about them.

I think the proof you are an expert is if you make more money than the people you are advising. If you dont, and you know how to do their job better, surely you would be doing that.

For me, running and owning businesses, qualifies me just as much, if not more, than my time at university. IMO you cant be a consultant, if you haven't proved you can 'walk the walk'.
