Cheers David, as for the decay – this baby has had Merip’ for a fair few years (longer than I should really mention) but I loath to take this type of tree down. Last year I did a little excavation (nothing fancy, just a spade and a combi-spanner). Classic Merip’ decay was revealed (top side of the roots looked fine, underside buggered beyond belief).

Given the many targets under the tree and the frequency the paths are used (children are buried in a section close-by), I’m afraid there was just the one prognosis.

Sounds like right outcome for the situation John :thumbup1:

Wicked shots. Have you shown them to the guys in the pics? What do they make of them?

Not yet frank, we only pulled off this afternoon. Climber was Matthew Padden (yet to be a member of arbtalk). I was ground crew together with Tom Murray (tommy_tentage). Both are ‘salt-of-the-earth’ guys and I’m stoked to have them on board! :thumbup1:

So do the local authority know they are paying you to play act as paparazzi nowadays? Haha

I would be well chuffed to have some pics of me up trees like that because I love myself too much.

These were only snap-shots done with the old camera, the new kit stayed at home. If these cuts in public spending come our way I’ll be touring the country on my bike with a box brownie!
