blue cedar dismantle

just a little blue cedar from today, two loads of chips. going back for two loads of timber tomorow. the first time ive tryed the possibilitys of the new stein rc3002 dual with the two ropes at a time etc. heres a couple of pics anyways first pic was taken at breakfast, second pic was when we packed up at half 3 the stem is being left at that height for a tree house and climbing frame. shame was such a drive from the yard or we could have finished it today but takeing two loads of chips took most the day away.

on that job maybe a tad quicker, mainly just saved me alot of hassle in tree, but on certain jobs i reackon will save a hell of a lot of time being able use two ropes.

I realise all of you will be getting used to the new technique, but get your groundy to learn how to let it run!

 

Only saw the first couple of minutes, but, the first couple of cuts you did on the vid, would have earned him a shouting at if i was in the tree!

yer i no what you mean, when its one the portawrap he usually gets the right amount of wraps, but with this being his first time useing the device he was sticking far to many wraps on.

How can it have made the job any quicker when after you made your cuts the limbs just sat there suspended for ages. None of them limbs where big enough to warrant taking the extra time to tie two knots IMO.

Id like to see a vid of this kit shot from the groundies point of view as it doesnt look any different to any other climbing/rigging job from the air. Let him have the helmet cam next time:001_smile:

to test it out fair enough, but that looked painfully slow. maybe if the top pully points were diffrent, and away from the main stem it could have an advantage. but looks like any of those limbs could have been lowered off flat with a capstan and cradle technique, or just capstan, or cut n chuck

 

but good to test things out before its needed

how do you reckon it will speed things up or help on some BIG limbs?
