Spraying around young trees

We've been approached by the woodland trust to give a price for spraying around some 1-3 yr old trees, having never done a spraying contract I find myself in the possition I used to be in 10 years ago when we started of not knowing how much to charge; feels strange now!

Will anyone advise me what they think is a good / fair / competative / profitable price per 100 trees? The sites are all within reasonable travelliung distance.

Any advice much appreciated!

(I should mention we do have staff who hold the necessary certificates.)

labour + materials + on-costs/over heads + a bit for a drink = price of job.

sorry dont actually have any useful advice, but at least you get a bump :P

hopefully someone else may give you some proper advice

Use you usual pricing methods...

What is your day rate... if your not meeting it spraying then stick to tree work..

Rates can be found in SPONDs for a guide.

Day rate+ chemical + extra eqiupment..

make sure you get spec required as there is big price range in chemicals.

also take a backback sprayer to a woodland full of water and do 100 trees then use a bit of math... if you know the porposed site all the better...

Can't go wrong with that one...

The last time that i sprayed around young trees i got 15 pence per tree, and they provided the herbicide. Good work started at first light got to listen to the dawn chorus.

If you are work in a remote area you will need a 4x4 and a trailer that can carry a couple of hundred liters of water. Once you get your eye in so to speak you can spray around the tree faster than you can walk past it.

one 15l knapsack sprays approx 700 trees and i have done 10000 trees in a day in ideal conditions i was payed 5p per tree by a management company all in all a good days work.

but, dont do it on a hot day those spray suits dont breath at all and that realy slows you down.
