BS 5837 calculation - take the DBH measurement and times by 12 this will give you the root protection zone, this is implemented in development situations......

 

if this area encroaches or nearly encroaches on the house then you can say it could effect the building.

 

this is only a quick rough guide for you and like i said has many dependants..

 

Ok i feel silly now but DBH?? Height?? sorry...

and the calculation for multiple stems is 10 x basal diameter above the root flare..

 

?????

 

Diameter at Breast Height of stem . If multi stemed tree the widest stem..:icon14:

 

RPA multistemmed trees:

Tree with more then one stem arising below 1.5m above ground level basal diameter x10 (measured immediatly above root flare)

 

Multiplyed by 10 not the widest stem at 1.5 x12
