If you are giving advice to that extent the first thing you need to do is find out the soil type.. If its any sort of clay then alarm bells ring.... Dig a small deep pit. How close is it to the house/building.. Personally i would not reccomend roots/subsidence jobs to anybody who has little advice...:scared:

If you want any further advice pm me and i will give you a bell...

Oh right thought it was a is this tree going to damage hose/subsidence case... The liability etc is scary..:scared:

You cant go far wrong by doing a BS 5837 calculation and applying that. Or use your gut instinct...:icon14:

And what calculation is that (pardon my lack of knowledge)....i was honest with the woman and said i was just a trigger puller and wasnt an expert at such a case...but she asked if i would quote and give my opinion...

BS 5837 calculation - take the DBH measurement and times by 12 this will give you the root protection zone, this is implemented in development situations......

if this area encroaches or nearly encroaches on the house then you can say it could effect the building.

this is only a quick rough guide for you and like i said has many dependants..
