'ello 'ello ' ello,

Is anyone aware whether the little Red / Black "Highly Flammable" / "Flammable liquid" diamonds are a legal requirement. If so, can they point me to the relivant leglislation.

The word on the street (or at least at the filling station down the road) is that the boys in blue have found this to be the latest exciting topic of choice (now they are bored of seeing what type of diesel is in the mogs).

Looking for fact rather than hearsay :thumbup1:

If not, why do peeps have them stuck on the back of their arbtrucks?

questions / questions / questions!

Carriage of dangerous goods comes under the ADR regulations.

For fuels the threshold starts at 1000 litres. Even an MS880 won’t use that much in a day.

Having said that it’s probably worth having a warning sticker. If your arbtruck was caught in a crash, I am sure the fire brigade would like a warning that there was a plastic container with a gallon or two of unleaded on board.

I'm sure you'll find the info in one of these:

The Petroleum-Spirit (Motor Vehicles, Etc.) Regulations 1929

The Petroleum Spirit (Plastic Containers) Regulations 1982

Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001

The Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002
