Mini digger grab.

Me and a mate are thinking of buying one of these: 1 to 3.9ton mini thumb digger/excavator grapple grab on eBay (end time 22-Apr-10 10:13:39 BST)

Anyone used the company or the tool?

For the extra money get one of THESE

 

I have one on a 3.5 tonne digger & its solid. Very hand. Better if you have a quick hitch so you can change to & from the bucket.

 

Edit to add, I have seen thumbs on eBay for much less. Just not one on at the min.

Yeah that looks a load better, but my mates digger doesnt have quick hitch, and he likes the idea of being able to leave the bucket on for some reason....I may give those guys a ring and see what price they can do for a 803 JCB......

I've been using my Grapple from Digbits that I got the other day on my JCB801 for shifting small logs, its not ideal but better than nothing. Still dont know whether I would have been better off using a standard digger bucket and a Thumb talon. The Thumb folds back when not in use, which might get in the way but the Grapple you have to change the bucket.

Would be loads better on a JCB803. Really all depends on what you are going to use it for.

Hi I use a home made dipper mounted claw on my 3 ton and my 12 tonner thay both fold up out the way when not in use the small one is great for logs scrub in fact any thing, wouldent be without them great attachment for an excavator

i work with the thumb type on my 3 tonne. i pull out a fair bit of gorse by the roots no problem as you can grab the wee stumps well. think mine was about £250, money well spent id say.

simple idea but works. you need to be able to adjust the length so the bucket and thumb line up nice and also so the thumb cant reach and damage the lifting ram (the one that lifts the whole digging arm)

Get a Sheaff / Terex.

 

They have all the rams on the top side so they are better protected.

i know what you mean my kabouta k008 has the ram on the top side, its a far better design
