Picus Lite

Well. Had our demo today and it turns out that the LITE is exactly the same animal as the full fat picus. Except that there are fewer sensors and no in the box bluetooth capabilities.

It would appear that Picus' are available off the shelf with the following designations

4 sensors - No bluetooth = PICUS LITE

6 sensors - No bluetooth = PICUS LITE

8 sensors - No bluetooth = PICUS LITE

10 sensors - Bundled w/ bluetooth = PICUS

12 sensors - Bundled w/ bluetooth = PICUS

The software is capable of combining mulitple configurations of the sensors on the same tree. I.e., you can stick twelve nails in the tree and move the 4 sensors into 3 different positions to give 12 locations - the same as the 12 sensor model.

If you felt like it, you could do the same with the 12 sensor to end up with a 36 sensor result?!?

No I couldn't be bothered either.... :D

Were you suitably impressed enough to consider the Lite, Tony?

And was it Sorbus who gave the demo?

A bit disapointed as they were at Capel, but didn't have the Lite with them

Sorry about the delay in responding - Yep Ian from Sorbus demo'd it in the pouring rain (so it is waterproof!)

And yes, we're putting a business case together at the moment to purchase the 6 sensor LITE w/ bluetooth.

Tony

In your opinion lite Or fat boy ?

I can see the multi role ie aerial application with the lite

Does the speed of the other, out way the flexibility ?

also what is the relative working time in each case ?

Well its the same beast, but we're getting the six sensor which is by definition the Picus LITE. Its not any more portable than the full fat version, its just got less sensors. So you'ld still need the same big box of tricks that runs the fat boy. The advertising is slightly misrepresentative I suppose, as it just shows a dinky little hammer with some wires coming out of it. That ain't the whole picture!
