Isn't that what we used to call lions tailing?

 

Could it be the same kind of thing as "do as you likey" rip cuts and natural fracture pruning??

 

Both look the same, are done in more or less the same way BUT because one is done with a bow saw and a ladder on a council estate and the other is done by a high flying arb with degrees coming out his ears, From a rope and harness, In the grounds of a multi million pound house they are amazingly different!!!

Maybe, but have you seen the price of a decent sized one lately? Moz, in a nutshell you summed it up. It isnt everyones cuppa tea, not sure its even mine, but its not any worse than anything else man inflicts on trees. If the trees talked they would tell us to take our saws and stick them where the sun doesnt shine. I do think I can create something with this, and otherwise it is a shabby specimen, and normally it would be removed, but the client wanted me to come up with ideas to incorporate it into his garden. Thats what we get paid for, customer satisfaction.

Indeed Andy, Id love to be able to have a bash at something different like this, Just to see if i could do it and make it look good, If nothing else,

basically I'm in the same boat, I have an idea what it should come out like, if it doesnt I'll post a pic of a pile of chippings!!:biggrin:
