Do you wear your stetson with you spikes?

No mate, the stetson wont go over the horns on my helmet. The pointy boots are great for spiking in though.

Footlocking is one thing i need to learn to do. I know how to just i find the rope always slips, besides i normally spike all my trees, make sure i get a few ugly gaff marks and everything:proud:.

I do use my pantin from time to time. my boss is after one too.

Spikes in a live tree?!:scared: I only use spikes in trees that are being removed.

I think footlocking is good, but there are other ways, I was thinking off trying srt using mechanical methods, but I need to research it further. When i'm at the Capel Arb show this year i'm going to look into it.

Marc,

Excuse my ignorance, but what is "srt"?

Single Rope Technique

A method of ascending a single fixed rope usually using mechanical devices. The most common i probably the Frog system, using a handled ascender, a chest ascender and footloops.

Ok...that's the technique the young-buck at work showed me. He tied off one end of his crotched line then used an ascender and footlocked up the other side.

Thanx for the clarification.

I'd like to try it, but I would rather not have to tie off my line.

I never said i was kidding and i never said i wasn't. I also never mentioned what kind of work i do.

Funny how the accusations start flying

about 99% of the trees is bless with my presence are left as a stump. The company i work for are known for removals and normally horrible ones at that.
