Tin sheds for storing timber

looking @ getting 1, of thes to store kindling in, & going to put it on pallets so air can get thru it , i was thinking they may suffer from condensation ? as i get it in the containers but that cold be from putting hot machines in a cold steel box ,any thoughts

You get condensation inside the container because the moisture cannot escape Johnny, so why would you want to seal firewood or kindling in a steel box that will prevent it drying?

 

A roof over an open sided structure would be my suggestion:thumbup:

if they are wet they go mouldy thats my experiance ive found putting them in frames made of pallets with a lid on is better let the airflow dry them.

Would some of those spiny vents, they put on police dog vans and the like, help??

the stuff will be dry when it goes in, either that or a wooden shed thinkg of cost ,i thought on pallets it would breeth better ?

it would direct wind flow and turn rain away from the outside logs so it would work dave

If it sweats, its not dry!

 

If its sealed it wont breathe, on pallets or not!

 

If, as you say its dry when it goes in, it should be OK

What happens is the tin shed heats up and warms the sheds contents, then you get a sharp cold night and condensation when the warm air inside hits the cold tin.

what about putting a mesh door on ?? would that help .
