Double Fisherman's Loop instead of spliced eye...

If I used a double fisherman's loop instead of a spliced eye on the friction cord for my main line (say for a Blake's hitch) is it safe to do so without tying a stopper knot in the free end from the DFL? For that matter is it safe to put a double fisherman's loop on the end of a main line instead of a bowline? And would you do it without a stopper knot?

Good knot in my opinion,never had one creep,just dress & set,leave a couple inches of tail.

I like it as it holds the carabina tight,saves loading across the gate.

yup, got taught it at college, but i add a extra wrap into the knot.

There was a discussion about termination knots on here a long time back. and someone recommended putting an extra wrap. done that ever since. i climb on a splice now anyway.

Sorry if it's a slightly thicko question, but where do you put the extra wrap? Is it an extra wrap at step 4 in the link above? Or is it at step 2?

Yeah, thats fair enough, I wasnt saying it was wrong, I just wanted to know why, as an extra wrap only adds bulk to the knot, not strength or reliability. In your avatar it doesnt look like you have an extra wrap on that termination but your not falling out the tree are you?? haha
