very well put, i dont have the knowledge and havent put in the thousands of study hours to get degrees and the such, thats why it doesnt bother me, i own a chainsaw and harness and climb trees thats it, but others have put a lot more into it, so i can see their point in wanting some credit.

What would be the point of studying and gaining qualifications if you couldn't advertise the fact that you'd gone to the time and trouble of obtaining them.:confused1:

letters after your name is just a way of saying i am a smart arse!

 

and pleasing the man in the wig, :001_huh:

 

They dont mean much if you havent the practical industry experiences to utilise it.

 

knowledge and ability are two entities.:biggrin:

It depends what practical experience you've had. If you've been taught outdated methods by someone, never been near a college and never sought out newer techniques or research in tree biology and pruning: you could have 30 years practical experience, but it would count for nothing.

that is true, but if you have 20 years practical experience working in the industry, and have consistantly matched that with reading and personal development, CPD etc.

Contradiction in terms I do believe.

 

You say "It depends what practical experience you've had" and then go on to say "You could have 30 years practical experience, but it would count for nothing".........:confused1:
