What mill

Hello all

I'm quite interested in buying a little mill, for use with a chainsaw. I know a few of you out there have them. Any recomendations, tips, one's to stay clear of etc etc???

alaskan mills are great if you go for the larger rail set will save you money if you upgrade your saw one day , rob d your man, great service he provides

i got the alaskan and found it easy to use and well made ,not too bad cutting finish and people who see the timber i`ve cut can`t believe i cut it with a chainsaw,can`t comment on any other makes tho as this is the first i`ve used

Alaskan mills great and very, very good value for money! Check out the sub forum on here and see what can be done.

 

The next closest one to the alaskan is by logsol uk and is considerably more expensive.

Any views on the big mill system?

We used it a few times and noted the flimsyness of the winder trolley (nylon string snapping despite sharp full revving MS660) and breaking/shearing handle heads on the guide rail support clamps that screw to the log ends.

Must say very impressed with the quality of bench tops, Waymarker posts etc. sawn off but expected better sturdyness considering the cost?

Noticed a lot of vibration also but maybe thats just down to the fact we were sawing right at the guide bar end?
