christ, would be intresting to try and retro fit cells! and the cost pfhhhh, i expect most people would sooner live with the change in drive level. The cells are a great design when planting but even then can you warrent the cost? they are way too expensive IMO i planted som EEEH standards in a car park last year & the cells worked out 10x more expensive than cellweb.

The trees are very much worth the tpo's in my opinion. It will be interesting what they do in the end, I was just there to give my advice.

This has probably been already considered but could a completely new drive be built taking a different route? Would solve all problems.

This only works if the trees in question belong to a third party.

 

Legally you can’t cause yourself and actionable nuisance.

My question would be the trees are TPO'd and a fixed driveway would require planning permission. Who let them put a drive within a RPA without doing a root inspection?

 

Also am i right in thinking full granted planning permission would over rule the TPO anyway??

Rushed reply here, n appen I haven't fully read the thread...sorry!

 

2 quick things:

 

I agree, in general, cellweb etc. is better incorporated in new development and retro-fitting is often not viable.

 

Would the client lift the surface to reveal the offending roots? I've seen a few times a network of smaller (upto25-30mm) surface roots from Pines under tarmac driveways, appen taking advantage of the condensation build up on the underside maybe combined with salts or summat(?) BUT my point is my view, as LPA TO, was that they were not significant and could be removed...and without consent as 'de-minimus' works (in other words I couldn't be bothered going through full process for a few small roots!)

 

trouble is IF tarmc goes back then the problem will undoubtedly reappear down the line....what about a nice 'gravel' driveway Mr Bloggs?
