I'm looking to get a petrol log splitter - the Rock Machinery 15t venom. I don't split firewood commercially, it's mainly to get through my own ever growing pile of logs. I do sometimes get asked if I split the logs from trees I've taken down, so it might occasionally get wheeled onto site.

Having contacted the local dealer they have one available with a Loncin engine or I can wait a few weeks for the Briggs and Stratton engine. I'm waiting to hear back on prices between the two, but I have no experience of the Loncin engines. Are they any good is my question.

My little Loncin on my chinese 12t splitter has never been  a problem.

Yearly quality oil change and keep the air filter clean and I hope it'll still be going in another 8 years.
