I got a pretty thick bit of Blackthorn in the next hedge. That will be a job for the 2.6t and a tree sheer. Those thorns are awfully tenacious and near impossible to pull out when grown together, flailed and then left to go again.

Used the winch on my chipper to have an out several Holly trees in my hazel section.

A Tree shear helps no end , some older hedges are impossible too pull your steepers out intertwined blackthorn are the worst

I got some photos of a road hedge we done where we had a 13 ton

with a shear and thinned the whole hedge out as most was hanging out over the road

I feel your pain! I've sharpened my way through a brand new chain in a day. This stretch under the oaks had 4 fences in various states of decay and an almighty amount of blackthorn tangled up in it all.

Those brash piles are pretty much all blackthorn from that 30m, tried to retain and lay all the hazel. It's a bit thin under the two oaks.

Not in Devon but west Wales, not really sure of the finer details of the Carmarthenshire style but this is what I'm up to.
