Anyone imported a vehicle from the US? I’m looking at importing a 1973/78 Ford F250 and was wondering if anyone’s had any experience, I believe as it’s a classic I’ll only pay 5% duty but I’m unclear about DVLA reg etc

TIA

Can you not buy one in uk? Mates just sold the v8 varient ?

I’ve not seen any trucks like the 78 v8 high boy in the uk unless they’re in private collections and not for sale. In the US they’re readily available and in very good condition and good value for money if I’ve got the duty, shipping etc calculations worked out correctly - just wanted to see if anyone can advise on how easy it was or if I’ve missed something.

Pete B lad Tom races cars over in the US I should imagine he would have some good contacts to get a decent truck.

Is it that horrid ,wide, crude looking thing that can only carry 250kgs ? Either a v8 or a straight 4 configuration?

If so one of my friends sold one recently ! The is someone also locally that messes around with them local to me but dont think he sells them

comfortably carry - 1.5/2t and tow up to 8t

. V8 5.9L engine and it’s a dream car that I want to customise slightly (lights and paint). Some may say crude, I say cool and a true pick up.

They weren't jacked up like that ,these were the stock units , 1960s units not later 80s like that .. these were the above engines and both autos, has it got to be a 1980s unit .

What licence !! Maybe in the states but definitely not here. I do like them though. Cummins diesel ram in rhd would be nice but I don’t have a spare £100k plus kicking around

That’s stock - factory model (high boy) and yes that’s the year give or take.
