Hi All.

not sure if this is the best place to put it but my chipper broke down today Forst st6P.

Called Forst and they had a technician out within 90 minutes and had me back up and running by the afternoon.

i know ill pay for it when the bill comes in but super quick, polite and efficient service, i cant argue with the service i received.

weight it up against the headache of getting parts in, time off work and hire in costs. it made sense. And handily did a service and blades at the same time so save me a Christmas job.

So all in all very happy.

Just to note it was the main bolt on the top hydraulic pump sheared off. Luckily didnt damage the pipes which apparently is common result. apparently they can work loose over time so worth checking if you own one.

Cheers

And that level of service is why I keep getting a Forst chipper!

But what if, through good design, the breakdowns didn't happen in the first place. Similar to my argument about timberwolf, it's easy to get parts...

Problem i see it as more in reply to the last couple of comments is its the ever stricter emission levels forced onto manufacturing.

same with cars and vans.

They are not built like the old days, highly strung and often thinner materials to save weight.

chippers (like grinders) have a tough life! must be hard to get the balance right for sure.

i had a timber wolf 230 before and it also had its share of issues over time.

My point was it broke, they fixed it in a few hours.

Every day im not working (and so my team ) we lose thousands as all other bills still keep coming so i was very pleased with them getting me back to it.

Top rollers on those Forests are plagued with issues.

Poor design from the get go.

Glad it’s fixed anyway, no real axe to grind….

no thats cool.

Tbh id never heard of the issues until it stopped moving.

Apparently i got lucky as it can rip off the hydraulic line and that would have been a disaster due to been on a posh driveway!

All well in the end though.

Nice to see a post like this pop up for a change. Good aftersales support makes a massive difference when machines are earning their keep every day. Quick turnaround, clear communication, and no messing about is exactly what you want when something goes wrong. Stories like this are why some brands keep loyal customers for years.
